Preparing Students for SAT/ACT Success Minimize

Thousands of students across the country succeed on college entrance exams after taking the ETM (Educational Testing Methods) course.

EDS offers this course two or three times a year.  The course covers BOTH the SAT and ACT. The 9 week class reviews reading, writing and math skills for the tests.  Classes are approximately 3 1/2 hours long.  The cost is $750. Courses are held in  August through October for the fall tests and January through March for the Spring tests and April through June for the Summer tests. Attendance in one class allows return attendance at future classes.  The class consists of approximately 15-20 students.

The course provides pre-test and post-test analysis of the students for both the SAT and ACT, specific test taking skills for the SAT and ACT tests and weekly assignments.  Becoming familiar with the format of the tests and learning the skills, the student is relieved of test anxiety and develops special skills for attacking the tests.  These skills are also helpful for school classes.  EDS also provides one to one tutoring for these tests for those students that need one to one assistance or just want to focus on one aspect of the test.

Most students who take the SAT and ACT course are juniors in high school. Most students take the tests an average of 3 times- twice in the junior year and once in the senior year, if necessary.  Since college applications are due the fall of their senior year, it is advised to take the course and then the test in the fall and spring of their junior year.  It is also advised to take a course before taking either test.  Although the top score in each subtest is counted towards the total SAT score,  the College Board reports all scores for a given student.

The SAT and ACT test math skills through Algebra II. Therefore a student should be in Algebra II before taking this course.
