Tutoring for Reading, Spelling, Writing and Math Minimize

EDS provides one to one private and customized assistance with all subjects and all ages.  EDS schedules appointments for reserved times each week. Sessions are one hour per week unless otherwise requested or needed.   Multiple sessions per week are allowed as are session extending more than one hour.  Each student is placed with the appropriate tutor depending on the need of the student. For example, if a second grade student is having difficulty reading, then he is placed with a tutor trained for second grade reading.  On the other hand, an eighth grade student may need help with Algebra. In that case, the student is placed with a tutor trained in Algebra.

At EDS, parents and students are interviewed and then assigned to a tutor that will meet the need of that student. The student will work on decoding skills, reading comprehension including main idea and critical thinking.  EDS can assess the reading level of the student for tutoring purposes. This allows placement in a remedial reading program for phonemic awareness and sequencing if necessary. These skills must be automatic prior to reading for comprehension and development of vocabulary skills. Phonemic awareness is a term used to describe the ability of the student to decode simple to complex syllables and multi-syllable words.

To be a good reader, the student must first accomplish phonemic awareness and sequencing, fluency, vocabulary. The final result is reading comprehension.
